  • Are my motives right?
  • What are my spiritual objectives? (make a list)
  • Are my objectives self-centred?

¡  Check with your doctor regarding medication

¡  Get off coffee and tea a day or two prior.

How do I Fast?

¡  Don’t tell anyone except your household.

¡  Start with a partial 24hr fast (Lunch to lunch or supper to supper)

¡   Pray, adore, worship God inwardly while you do the normal things.

¡   See every task of the day as a sacred ministry to the Lord.

¡   Be receptive to God’s whisperings.

¡  Next attempt a full 36hr fast

¡   Drink lots of water

¡   Devote the time you would normally eat to prayer and meditation.

¡   Do not call any attention to what you are doing.

¡  When you feel called, attempt a fast of a few days.

¡  Start with a “fruit day”

¡  Day 1-3 = most difficult because of detox

¡  Day 4-5 = hunger pains reduce; weakness

¡  Day 6-7 = feeling stronger and more alert

¡  Day 8-10 = almost no hunger

¡  Day 21-40 = hunger pains return = time to stop

Spiritual activities

How to end the fast

¡  Before you break the fast go back over your journal and give thanks; and make commitments to God
